Is Tom Hardy's voice of venom?

This English star is a talented film and stage actor who is known for his ability to fully embody his characters during his performances. Hardy has mastered many different voices and dialects, but does Venom sound?

Tom Hardy voiced Venom in the Marvel superhero movie. Hardy played both Venom and Eddie Brock, the American investigative journalist who became the host of Venom. Venom's voice is a hardy voice with the use of some sound modulation effects.

Read below to learn more about how Tom Hardy expressed Venom, as well as some of the other influences they used in the movie.

The sound of venom.

The character Venom in the movie has a strange and somewhat threatening voice. Hardy's voice served as the base for the sound, and then the film's special effects team tweaked it so it sounded less human.

However, it is not Hardy's natural voice that he uses to record Venom. In an interview with EW, Hardy talked about the development of both Eddie and Venom and how he found their separate voices.

'They have different voices. I've always seen Venom sound like a James Brown relaxed lizard, and Eddie Brock is kind of…” Hardy recoils before switching to a simple American accent. 'I don't know, the everyday kind of guy.' But he inherited this enormous ego, this monster'.

He also talked about what it was like when Venom's voice was recorded and filmed. 'They worked relentlessly to tease [it] - I had to play a voice for Venom in the morning and then play the opposite Eddie role in my earpiece, and whoever was working with me in the scene, they had to hear Venom at the same time but then they ignore that they're They heard Venom," Hardy explained.

'And whenever I give my mainline by the name of Eddie Brock - that might not make sense to anyone who's not a tech-savvy and interested in such things as me - but Patrick Anderson would be strictly under the queue of Venom so I could bypass and talk and argue with myself, and things like that. '

'It's a bit technical, it was fun. It was really, really fun, and for the audiophiles, in fact, to be fair, they probably really play Venom. It's my voice, but they're playing Venom, 'Hardy finished.

He was drawn to the film for many reasons, among them the hybrid, double-personal dynamic between Eddie and Venom. The other is that Venom wasn't a traditional hero at all, and he had very complicated feelings about the matter.

'There is an element of a tragic clown, which I find funny and in tune with some of the work I love to do. There is something funny about the circumstances of receiving a gift but it is a tragic gift. It's a superpower that you don't really want, but love at the same time. It makes you feel special. He's a reluctant and anti-hero," Hardy said.

Other effects

Whatever effects are used, many fans have tweeted their opinions about the film and Hardy's performance, as in this post which he describes as 'extremely entertaining'.

In an interview that IGN posted on Twitter, the crew talks about Hardy's performance and other ways they brought Venom to life.

When asked what Hardy brought to the role, production designer Oliver Scholl said, 'It's fiction. It's like trying to imagine this creature in yourself that's very experimental about it, trying different versions of what it can say... You can't write that into a text, really'.

"This movie is very demanding because obviously, we have to integrate this digital character very closely with Tom's performance," said Paul Franklin, Visual Effects Supervisor.
